[Official] Formula 1 design legend Adrian Newey is saying goodbye to Red Bull Racing after nearly 20 years! He’ll officially step down as Chief Technical Officer in early 2025.
Newey’s time at Red Bull was incredibly successful. He helped them win a whopping 7 drivers’ championships, 6 constructors’ championships, and a staggering 118 races!
While he’s leaving F1 design behind, Newey isn’t done creating amazing machines. Before departing in early 2025, he’ll be focusing on finishing Red Bull’s first hypercar, the RB17. This powerhouse is expected around 1,000 hp (746 kW/1,014 PS) combined with a 200 hp (149 kW/203 PS) electric motor providing torque fill during gear changes and acting as the car’s reverse gear.
Only 50 RB17s will be built, each with a hefty price tag of $6.24 million USD. We’ll get a glimpse of this beast this summer, with testing starting in early 2025. Production officially kicks off in 2026.
