The 2025 Toyota 4Runner is finally here, and it’s a significant update for this off-road legend. This is the first major overhaul for the 4Runner in 15 years! While it retains its rugged spirit, it benefits from a complete redesign based on the new TNGA-F truck platform, shared with the Tacoma.
The new engine options now is a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing 278 horsepower and 378 lb-ft of torque. Most trims get this engine, while some higher trims offer an optional i-Force Max hybrid option with an added electric motor for a total of 326 horsepower.
The 4Runner remains a true off-roader. Several trim levels cater to different adventure needs, including the TRD Sport for on-road performance, the TRD Off-Road for conquering trails, and the brand new Trailhunter, specifically designed for overlanding adventures.
It gets a significant upgrade. An 8-inch touchscreen is standard, with a larger 14-inch option available. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and wireless charging are all included. It also boasts Toyota’s latest Safety Sense 3.0 suite of driver-assistance features. The interior gets a refresh with a more modern design and improved materials.
Pricing hasn’t been officially announced yet, but it’s expected to start around $43,000 and go up to $54,000 depending on the trim and options. The 2025 4Runner is expected to hit dealerships sometime in late summer or early fall of 2024.
