Land Rover is raising the bar for off-road enthusiasts with the upcoming Defender OCTA, their most powerful and rugged Defender yet. Set to be unveiled on July 3rd, 2024.
The OCTA boasts a BMW-sourced 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine estimated to deliver a staggering 626 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. The Octa will have new suspension setup from the SV, this calls the system “6D Dynamics,” which in more understandable terms mean it pairs the Sport’s standard air springs with hydraulically cross-linked dampers in place of anti-roll bars. The system not only allows the Defender to maintain a near-level stance during aggressive acceleration, braking, and cornering, but it also massively aids in independent wheel travel and articulation while off-roading.
While specific details on off-road upgrades are yet to be revealed, expect enhancements to the suspension, tires, and potentially underbody protection for tackling tough trails. Land Rover’s renowned Terrain Response system with various driving modes will likely be on board, allowing drivers to optimize the OCTA for specific conditions like mud, rock crawling, or sand.
Inside, expect the OCTA to maintain the Defender’s rugged character with premium materials and luxurious touches. High-resolution infotainment system, comfortable seating for five, and potentially unique design elements or color schemes are all on the horizon.
